Alumni Diaries: A Talk with Rohit Manan (Batch of 2008)

Alma Mater, a second home as also referred by a lot of people; gets everyone nostalgic. On 28 th March 2018, one such moment was for Mr. Rohit Manan, Adv. practicing at the Tiz Hazari Courts and High Court, Delhi. Mr. Manan is also commissioned in the Territorial Army. The talk was held in the Seminar Hall along with a power-point presentation, whereby Mr. Manan at the very outset asked students to be very clear with what they wish to aspire for in life. The concept of rat race will not help. Not everyone is crafted with the same skill set, and the sooner the students figure it out, the more beneficial it would be. SUPREME COURT ALLOWS PASSIVE EUTHANASIA, SETS GUIDELINES

In a noteworthy choice, the Supreme Court on 09 th March 2018 proclaimed passive euthanasia and the right of people, including the terminally ill, to give mandates to reject therapeutic treatment as permissible. THURSDAY DIARIES: INTRA INSTITUTE DANCE COMPETITION 2018

“ Dance to express, not to impress” This Thursday Activity witnessed the cheerful Intra Institute Dance Competition which saw fervent participation of the fluid and balletic dancers of the AIL. The MP hall was as usual full of an energetic crowd but the real attraction were the excited participants from various batches who came forward to show their extraordinary dance skills. They danced on mellifluous songs with sprightly energy. The competition began with solo performance, followed by the duet category. The Solo category was won by Sonu Parmer from 1st Year. She with her supple and graceful moves made the crowd cheer. In the Duet category the First prize was won by Ruhul Amin and Dilisha Nair from 1 st Year and the Second prize was won by Shivani Anand and Simran Walia from 3 rd & 4 th year respectively. Prof. Deepti Gupta graced Army Institute of Law, Mohali with her presence on 8 th  March 2018.  She spoke about the importance and need to develop language in order to succeed in the field of Law. Given the fact that a lawyer’s main tool is his words, language and its improvement becomes an integral part of any budding lawyer’s life.  She is presently the Chairman of Department of English and Cultural Studies at Punjab University.  She is a highly educated woman with an M.A in English Literature and Linguistics, M.Phil. in Stylistics and a PhD in English Language teaching. She specialises in Applied Linguistics.   She has various publications to her name including some for International journals such as ELT journal, UK and has also served as a Reviewer for various National & International Journals.
